Our family just grew by 1

Elke is back at the Sprucehaven. Unfortunately it's because our good friend, Dale, passed away. He had just overcome the major medical issues he was having earlier in the year that brought Elke to stay with us. He unexpectedly died in a car accident. His son had taken Elke in initially but he knew his Dad wanted her to come back here if anything happened to him and....here she will be. She's a joy to have, Cooper is completely in love with her - as are we.

As you can see, she has made herself right at home.

And Cooper gave her an official welcome.

The 22nd was Rowan's 5th Birthday and we'll celebrate with him on Saturday. He is just growing like a weed!

He had the number pancake as they always do. It's an awesome tradition Angie started with the boys. I wonder if she'll continue when they hit double digits :)

P.S. We won! We switched it up (again) and Frank and I were partners. It was not well received but worked for us.

The weekend is here

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
― Oscar Wilde

This week flew by (as usual). This morning it was CSA pickup day. We got brussels sprouts! Also, the usual greens, tomatoes, eggplant, beets, corn, zucchini, jalapeno's, and summer squash. Each week I typically make a stir fry out of a little of everything we get but not today. Today hubby is preparing my Birthday dinner! I had my choice of going anywhere I wanted for dinner but once he put his homemade lasagna on the list of options there was no going back. He makes a magnificent lasagna and I am going to enjoy it!

I've been feeling a little under the weather this week, mostly tired. Probably a virus going around or else it's the neverending allergies.

Today would normally be the RC Fun Fly here but it's rainy so I doubt they'll do much flying. Hopefully it will break tomorrow and we'll get to see some planes. I'll post pics if it works out. Ang and fam are planning on coming out tomorrow as well so I'm getting all the veggies done up today so I can just enjoy the day tomorrow.

Our card partners brought Birthday cake (Ice Cream cake) last night. That was a treat and to top it off - WE WON! We skunked them again 😁

Belated Birthday

Sunday was Rowan's Birthday Party. His actual Birthday was on the 22nd but we waited for the weekend that all the kids could be there.I can't believe he's 4 already! He's into caterpillars and green is his favorite color so green caterpillars with red heads were everywhere. Angie made cupcakes with green frosting and arranged them into a big caterpillar with, of course, a red head - really cute.

Their driveway/yard is just as ours - an ice skating rink. So far, knock on wood, we haven't fallen. I came close yesterday while we were out getting the woodstove filled but I recovered. Weather is still pretty nice but has cooled off some now and is supposed to be quite chilly the next few days but after we survived the cold blast earlier this should be a walk in the park!

The big cleanup is still in full swing. The basement is the current task. It's musty down there so everything porous is ruined. Pictures and papers are stuck together so there's no saving them but even so we've found some pretty good memories. We've so far hauled 8 big bags of garbage out and did some paper burning yesterday. It will be so  nice when it's all done...

Birthday celebration II

This has been a hectic week at work but tonight was card night. We've been playing cards for years with the neighbors every Friday night. We have snacks, visit, and play cards. It's a nice way to end a busy week. When one of us has a birthday we celebrate that too. Tonight was Red Velvet creme roll cake and Red Velvet Ice Cream - YUM! And tonight my team won, how great is that?

Happy Birthday to me

Today was my birthday so after work I came home and our youngest daughter was here with the grandsons. She made me a great sign for my garden and helped Frank with my birthday dinner - Lasagna and all the fixings (even homemade bread!).

Later Mike (Angie's husband) and 2 of the other grandkids came out and had dinner with us. It's the first time they've been here in a long time due to a family conflict. It was great to have them all here though.

I am so blessed.
