In spite of all my cursing about all the snow this year there is one huge benefit. Snow mountain, the grandkids and Cooper just love it and this year has been the best in a while. Sometimes you just have to find that silver lining.
Mike and Angie's vehicles both took a dump this week so we dug out our old Explorer in hopes of reviving it for them. They've been here the past 2 days but so far things aren't going as we hoped. It might have been better left behind the snow.
Tomorrow is MLK day so the Courthouse is closed. I have expectations to get a lot done but the reality is we'll just see how it goes. I do want to take advantage of the warmer temps and get some wood up closer to the stove because I'm sure it won't last. It's still 17 above the donut at 9 pm. I would be ok with riding out the winter with these temps but I've lived here all my life - That is NOT going to happen!

The last few days
Seemed like a lot going on, not really enough to talk about - some good, some not so good.
Weather has been cold/windy, everyone is sick of it, even Cooper.
Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our cat Ashley, we called her a variety of names but mostly not her given name. She was known as Chickie Chickie Mau Mau, Ashe, kitty, and sometimes other names that weren't worth repeating. But in the end it was hard (as usual) to say goodbye. She was 19 and had a good life but she didn't know what was going on and couldn't remember simple things anymore like the fact that she had just been fed or where her litterbox was. It was time.... so, RIP Mau Mau, go find Midi and Charlie and Grace and enjoy your afterlife.

Back in the Deep Freeeeeze!
Just came in from the wood boiler, last time for today but it is frigid out there! 21 below the donut but, luckily, no wind.
I think our high today was -9 with a breeze. Our neighbor came down with his tractor and got us plowed out again, it was too windy yesterday so it was futile. I felt for him because he has no heat in the cab. Next year we will be more prepared...

Happy New Year!
The festivities are over and the house is back (mostly) to it's pre-holiday condition. Crystal surprised us for New Years, showing up on Wednesday night for a 4 day stay. Frank had the snow mountain ready for the kiddo's to play on and play they did.
The adults just ate too much and tried to keep up with the younguns. Cooper had company too as Crystal and Dale brought our grandpuppy, Tucker, along. He is still recuperating as are we.
We're on track for another blizzard or some kind of weather system again for this afternoon through noon tomorrow. It's starting to become commonplace lately. More shoveling - yippee! Plus we're in for a much colder week ahead so will get wood near the stove so it's easier to keep it filled when it's cold. Nothing worse than having to root around for wood at -10 or so.
Today I will get new folders setup on my computer for the New Year for pictures, emails, etc., and transfer holiday photos from my phone into their respective folders. I purchased a new photo scanner and so far I like it pretty well, it will even do negatives so I'm excited to try that feature.
Frank is cooking breakfast, his famous omelets - I'm in!
