Grandpuppy Overnighter

Ang and fam had a get together in Duluth on Friday so Hugo got to come out to the farm. He's a city dog so he had a bit of a learning curve. He's a very calm and sweet dog, the polar opposite of Cooper.

Spring has sprung

It's that time of year again, time to get outside and get things cleaned up. It's been beautiful weather, mid 50's above the donut and no bugs, perfect! The Sandhill cranes are back and showed up for a camera op. It was the best capture I could get.

Angie and family adopted a new dog from the shelter. He's a 5 year old and they have named him Hugo. He's huge like Cooper and Elke but not sure of breed. Mix of german shorthair pointer and lab maybe.

We spent a lazy day yesterday. Frank's been under the weather the past week or so. Good to just hang out sometimes. We did a marathon watch of Street Outlaws on Hulu.

Abbie's Birthday party was great, she seemed to like the car so can't wait for her to bring it out to the farm so we can see it in action. Angie made butterflies for the top of her cupcakes, they turned out AWESOME - she even made a butterfly fairy for Abbie's cupcake. All in all a good day.

And now for the photo of the week...

We've gone to the dogs

Elke is settling in nicely. Last night when Jim and Eileen came to play cards she barked at him. Not sure what that was about but she did it when he left too. Maybe she was saying, since he brought her here, "NO, I'm not leaving here yet!" - who knows.

The crazy weather continues and the wind never stops. Day before yesterday while I was out getting wood into the stove it was sprinkling and quickly turned to hail. Crazy!

Yesterday Grace had her surgery to have her ear tubes removed. For whatever reason they didn't just fall out as normal and were causing her problems. She came through it fine and hopefully will heal up quickly.

Tomorrow is Abbie's 11th Birthday party. These kids are growing up so fast it makes your head spin. She has mostly brothers and they usually get a remote controlled something or other so I thought it was high time she got one - a little red corvette, hope she likes it.

We have a guest

Dale is still hospitalized and we're not sure if/when he'll be home. He asked us quite some time ago to take Elke if anything happened to him. So, here we are.

Cooper is ecstatic, he thinks she's wonderful. She's not too sure. They are similar in size and neither is very gracious inside. The rugs go flying, chairs slid out of the way, we haven't seen how sleeping arrangements will be yet.

Elke is a weimaraner and got her name because she can't control her "licker", I classed it up a bit with the spelling, she has to have her dignity after all :)

Cooper the bipolar hound

After I got home from work Angie showed up with the boys. We had a good visit and of course the boys had to snack. I'm sure we have basically the same snacks that they have at home but it's something about having it at Gramma and Papa's I guess. Today it was chocolate chip bunnies (Annies). I admit they are tasty.

Cooper was happy to see the boys as well, a bit TOO happy usually because he ends up bowling them over and slurping them on the way by. I swear that dog is bipolar, he can go from sleeping under my desk to full on hyperspastic mode in about 2 seconds (if that).

He is a good looking dog though, and he knows it, he struts around like he's the King around here. Who knows - maybe he is....

Manic Monday

Today was pretty busy with work but I did get a chance to chat with Crystal for awhile, both of us traveling to different jobs. I tried to get ahold of Angie tonight but she was probably already sleeping. I hope she's feeling better she had a sinus infection the last time we talked.

Cooper found a new prize and he was anxious to show it to me when I got home - a big piece of a log, he was pretty proud of it. Frank had been sawing wood so Coop nabbed that right away - that dog has sure got some strength to carry that big thing around!

I'll have to snap a pic of him carrying it and add it.
