I have had a good time the last couple years doing our family ancestry. I have a subscription on Ancestry and have picked up alot at the familysearch.org site as well. This is a picture of my Grandfather on my Dad's side.
He was supposedly born in February 1881 in Dekalb County, Illinois but as the story goes, he was raised in an orphanage and the folks there gave him his last name. Makes researching pretty difficult. He passed away in 1974, I was only 12 so I have limited memories of him.
Strange how some lines are so easy to follow and others come to an abrupt halt pretty quickly. The information is not always accurate either - it's been a learning curve.
